This statue is located in Piazza Boccaccio in Certaldo, just in front of the town hall and church.
You often come across the name Boccaccio during your visit to Certaldo. This writer, poet and humanist, who lived between 1313 and 1375, is the most famous resident of Certaldo. He is best known for Decamerone , a frame story of young people who fled Florence during the plague epidemic of 1348. Boccaccio is believed to be buried in the church of SS in Certaldo Alto.
