Here in Traverse, a famous lady is born on 26 August 1855. Her name is Lidia Poët. You can now admire her in the fantastic Netflix serie La legge di Lidia Poët. Lidia Poët is the first woman to ever practice law in Italy, before being told she can never do it again. She receives her degree on June 17, 1881 University of Turin Department of Law
Set in late-19th-century Turin, Poët’s story unpacks the fight for gender equality at a time when it didn't exist. Her disbarring led to a movement to allow women to practice law and hold public office in Italy.
