Lidia Poët est la première femme à avoir jamais exercé le droit en Italie, avant qu'on lui dise qu'elle ne pourrait plus jamais le faire. Elle obtient son diplôme le 17 juin 1881 à l'Université de Turin, Département de Droit.
Située à la fin du XIXe siècle à Turin, l'histoire de Poët dépeint la lutte pour l'égalité des sexes à une époque où elle n'existait pas. Sa radiation a donné lieu à un mouvement pour permettre aux femmes d'exercer le droit et de détenir des fonctions publiques en Italie.
