The Panitteri Palace, originally Truncali , is one of the most important monuments of Sambuca.
Built as an outpost tower along the walls surrounding ancient Zabut (today Sambuca), it later became a patrician residence . The massive tower of the castle was transformed into a palace for residential use by adapting the quadrangular structure. The structure is characterized by lines of the late Renaissance , mixed with announcements of the impending Sicilian Baroque : the main entrance portal with the coat of arms of the Panitteri family at the top is living proof of this.
The palace retains its original quadrangular plan with a large courtyard topped by enormous warehouses. A Catalan-style staircase leads to the ground floor, where the Palazzo Panitteri Archaeological Museum is now located. In the courtyard, a short underpass leads to the garden where several examples of Mediterranean plants stand out.
