Antonella Maggio Memorial - Sambuca di Sicilia

As an activist, Antonella Maggio was the founder of the association Unitre Sambuca.

She campaigned for women's rights and gender equality. As a memorial , a red bench against femicide was installed on the square that bears her name.

Antonella Maggio had written several texts, including a fairy tale entitled 'Il fantasma di Zabut' (The Ghost of Zabut), as part of the Festival delle Letterature Migranti (Festival of Migrant Literature). In it, the main character, a peculiar migrant prince, undertakes a long journey among the enchanting islands of the Mediterranean, a small Odyssey in search of a precious and rare commodity: Freedom. Freedom that is not easy to achieve due to the many obstacles the prince encounters on his way, but which he finally manages to obtain in a small hill town, Zabut (Sambuca) , a city of dialogue, hospitality, freedom and friendship.
