Ring of the Valdesian Valleys (Avv) - Val Pellice

The itinerary is a loop that develops in 8 stages through the municipalities of Angrogna, Bobbio Pellice, Rora’, Torre Pellice, and Villar Pellice, covering a total length of approximately 120 km. It is a hiking route of high naturalistic and environmental value that can be accessed from each of the municipalities involved, as well as being left to reach the centers of the individual towns where one can find answers to historical and cultural questions, and stop at accommodation facilities to taste local typical products. Many of these trails are indeed strongly connected to local history: the Waldensian history of which these mountains have been the stage for centuries, the connections with France to ensure commercial exchanges, and the Resistance during World War II. The mountainous environment, with an agricultural vocation, characterized by scarce contact with cities and the plains, has favored the survival of ancient traditional and cultural expressions. Folk traditions, customs, the way of life, and the relationship with the surrounding environment have ancient origins, and the cultural, religious, and linguistic variety of the territory translates into a heritage of traditions that makes these valleys a land rich in expressive forms. The area is home to several museums that testify to the various aspects that have characterized the culture of the valleys.
The itinerary, which mainly develops along GTA trails and others in the hiking network of the Piedmont region, is connected at various points with long and medium-distance routes registered in the National Path Registry, with cross-border routes, and with thematic paths, lasting a few hours, with clear educational purposes, well-equipped, suitable for everyone, and with functional accommodation areas.
