Great Crossing of Valsesia (Gtv)

The itinerary of the Great Crossing of Valsesia (G.T.V.) consists of 11 stages that completely cross the territory of Alta Valsesia. It starts from a high trail at the Bocchetta della Boscarola in the Province of Biella, connecting to the GTB (Great Crossing of Biellese) and to the Dolciniano Trail of the Municipality of Scopello, and ends at the Bocchetta di Campello in the Municipality of Rimella, which allows connection to VCO in the municipality of Valstrona (Fraz. Campello Monti) where the GTA is encountered.
The stages are divided as follows:
1st stage
From Alpe Mera, you reach the Alpe di Meggiana, then arrive at the support point of Alpe Toso in Val Sorba in the Municipality of Rassa.
2nd stage
From Alpe Tosi, continue through the Passo della Gronda until reaching the support point of Alpe Salei.
3rd stage
From here to the lakes of Giare in Val Artogna, and Alpe Maccagno. Descend the Maccagno valley in Valle Vogna until Alpe Peccia where the private hut/refuge Prato della Croce is located.
4th stage
From Alpe Peccia, move to Alpe Larecchio to reach the Ospizio Sottile.
5th stage
From here, taking a more challenging route (EEA), reach Lake Nero and the summit of Corno Bianco, then descend to the Tailly lakes and reach the Bivouac Ravelli.
(Alternatively, from Alpe Peccia, it is possible to reach Riva Valdobbia, Alagna, and the Valle Otro with overnight stay at the Rifugio Zar Senni. From here to Alpe Pianmisura and then Passo Foric to reconnect with the main path).
6th stage
Descend along the Val d’Otro to Alpe Pianmisura where you ascend to Passo Foric connecting to the Vallone d’Olen, which you descend and then climb to the Bocchetta delle Pisse and from there proceed to the Rifugio Pastore at Alpe Pile.
7th stage
From Rifugio Pastore, head to Rifugio Barba Ferrero and then continue towards Alpe Faller and the Colle del Piglimò to reach Rifugio Vallè in the Municipality of Alto Setmenza.
8th stage
A short stage but with a more challenging crossing between Colle del Vallè and Colle della Bottigia (EEA) to reach the Massero refuge in the Municipality of Carcoforo.
9th stage
From the refuge, reach Carcoforo and ascend Col d’Egua (there is an alternative at a higher altitude) and from here to Rifugio Alpe Baranca in the Municipality of Fobello along the GTA (Great Crossing of the Alps).
10th stage
From Alpe Baranca, head to Alpe Res of Fobello to reach Rifugio Obru Huusch in the district of Rimella Roncaccio Superiore.
11th stage
From Rifugio Obru Huusch to Bocchetta di Campello and Val Strona.
