Great Crossing of the Langhe by Mountain Bike

The GTL, or the Great Crossing of the Langhe, is an acronym that encompasses an entire territory. Forget about vineyards and wine, present only marginally; here you find unspoiled nature, cheeses, hazelnuts, castles, and authentic villages that have remained unchanged over time. Just a few kilometers from Alba, another world, or rather a “different world” in which to immerse yourself, admiring incomparable landscapes and enjoying the activities that nature allows us to do in this corner of the world, from trekking to off-road biking.
It’s impossible to create a single itinerary, which is why the GTL offers many. In practice, every town is touched by it; you just have to choose between ridge routes or more specific itineraries, from village to village. The routes are on low-traffic roads, dirt roads, and woodlands. The kilometers are never excessive, though sometimes the non-ridge sections can be challenging, recommended mainly for experienced and trained cyclists.
It is always possible to avoid the more extreme sections with portage (i.e., walking with the bike beside you) or, more simply, by using the asphalt connection between two locations or the public transport service.
