Slate quarry

The cartography of the Natural Museum from 2005 shows slate quarries in Asselborn. The good quality of their slates was confirmed by an award at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889. Its slates are found, among others, on the roof of the State Heart of Jesus Church; but they were unable to deliver enough slates after the Rundstedt offensive to rebuild the destroyed Öislek villages. - Asselborn is located on the 87 km long N12 - just 8 km from Clervaux. It has been part of the municipality of Wincrange since 1977. Life gives people tasks that match their talent. And when these tasks seem extra difficult, they provide a new experience. A nearby attraction is the Aasselburer Millen, now a hotel-restaurant. It is also a watermill and millers' museum. Its waterwheel operates only on request. Between the Éimeschbach and the Aasselburer Millen lies a biotope that is partly on a cultural circuit.
