It is known that the dodo got extinct due to Dutch sailors who arrived in Mauritius. What is less known is that this is indirect. Dutch sailors brought monkeys (macaques) from Asia and let them free on the island. The macaques picked up the eggs of the dodo, which quickly led to the extinction of the dodo.
