Harskamp is the location of the Infantry Shooting Range Harskamp, which was put into use on September 1, 1899. Here, between 110,000 and 140,000 shooters are trained annually. There are also a number of defense museums located here: the Infantry Museum, the Infantry Shooting Range Museum, the historical collection of the National Reserve, and the narrow-gauge railway museum.
The village is particularly known for tourism and the presence of campsites and recreation parks due to its quiet location on the edge of the Veluwe. A well-known attraction is the Passiflorahoeve, a care farm that manages the National Plant Collection Passiflora. It is also a very Christian village: in the municipal elections of 2006, the SGP received 50.26% of the votes here, with the three Christian parties together accounting for more than three-quarters. The village has a Reformed Church and a Gereformeerde Church.
