Schermerhorn is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Alkmaar, and lies about 9 km south of Heerhugowaard.The village was first mentioned in the 14th century as Den Horn, and means "corner in the Schermer ". Schermerhorn developed in the 13th century on the northern corner of the dike surrounding the former island Schermereiland. In 1635, it was connected to the main land and Alkmaar.
