Vaals is the capital of the Dutch municipality of Vaals, located in the far southeast of Limburg. The village lies at the national border of the Netherlands, near the tripoint with Belgium and Germany, west of the German city of Aachen. Vaals has more than 7,920 inhabitants and is thus the largest place within the municipality.
