Lemferdinge was the name of a havezate and is the name of an estate near the Drenthe town of Eelde. The heart of the estate was once formed by the House of Lemferdinge. This building has a long history: once there was already a large country house on this spot, with an associated moat, drawbridge and two treasure houses.
In 1447 Lemferdinge was mentioned for the first time in documents. How long Lemferdinge existed before that is unknown. Lemferdinge was originally owned by the Ter Borch family from Eelde. By inheritance, Lemferdinge came into the possession of members of the Van Dulmen family. They sold it in 1653 to the ritmeester Joost van Welvelde. He tried three times, because of the possession of the House of Lemferdinge, which he regarded as a havezate, to gain access to the Drenthe Knighthood. This request was rejected by the Landtag. In 1720 Lemferdinge had come into the possession of Samuel Nijsingh, who, in addition to Lemferdinge, also owned De Nijborg, De Braak and the Nijsinghhuis in this area. After the death of his widow, Lemferdinge had to be sold because of the accumulated debts. The new owner was Frederik Otto van Dörnberg Heiden, who already owned the right of havezate, which had been moved from the Mepschehuis in Eelde to a keuterij. This artifice allowed the new owner to be admitted to the Knighthood in 1766. Lemferdinge did not have the status of havezate for a long time, because in 1788 the right was again shifted to an inheritance in Paterswolde. Van Dörnberg sold the house again in 1790. During the French period, the house was owned by the Lieutenant-General Jean Baptiste Dumonceau, commander of the Batavian army in the north. The family occupied the house irregularly and left in 1806, but still remained the owner. During that period the house suffered from the severe weather of November 9, 1800 and in the summer of 1811. When it was sold in 1811 it was in poor condition. The house was then demolished with the exception of the western treasury. This treasure house was named Lemferdinge in the 19th century, named after the former havezate.

This house has known several owners, including the landowner and horse breeder Toon de Marees van Swinderen. In 1953, after the death of the last owner, Gesina Bähler-Boerma, the widow of the liberal preacher and Christian anarchist Louis Adriën Bähler, the house was sold to the Vereniging Ons Dorpshuis, but was managed by the Bähler-Boerma Lemferdinge foundation, which acquired ownership of it in 1983.

In 1994 the building received the status of national monument and then it was restored. The building is used, among other things, as a wedding location of the municipality of Tynaarlo. The upper floor is used as an exhibition space. Since 2003, the Lemferdinge estate has been part of the Stichting Het Drentse Landschap. Around the house is an almost three hectare park forest, some centuries-old gardens, an old well and an orchard from the 19th century.
