No courtyard, but the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands is also on the route. The Hortus Grand Café is a great place for a cup of coffee, breakfast, or lunch. A small part of the Hortus is accessible without an entrance ticket; from behind the fences, you have a good view of the Clusius Garden, a replica of what the Hortus looked like four hundred years ago when it was established by Carolus Clusius, the first prefect. For those with extra time: every Saturday, there is currently a winter excursion, featuring the highlights of the collection and the most photogenic spots.
