Until shortly before World War II, there was a water pump in the center of Noordwijkerhout. Next to the music pavilion, which was placed in 1912 at the front of the White Church, there used to be an iron village pump. For unknown reasons, this pump was replaced in 1917 by a new pump made of red sandstone and basalt. The old pump was rebuilt from the same materials as it was originally made of. To prevent vandalism, the handle was secured.
