The Heinenoord Tunnel is a road tunnel in the Dutch province of South Holland. The tunnel connects the Hoeksche Waard with the island of IJsselmonde and is named after the nearby town of Heinenoord. The A29 motorway runs through the Heinenoord tunnel, which is an important connecting road between Rotterdam and the islands of Zeeland and South Holland. The tunnel was opened on 22 July 1969 by Minister Bakker and replaced the Barendrecht bridge. The tunnel has two tubes, with two lanes of motorway and a lane for slow traffic and cyclists in each tube.
