From the Schaapsteeg, you can see the chimney of the old steam pumping station of Mastenbroek between the trees on the left. This steam pumping station, also known as "d' Olde Mesiene," was in operation from 1856 to 1961 and can still be seen in action a few times a year. Next to the old pumping station, the electric pumping station Veneriete was built, which has taken over the operations.
