Year of construction: 1867
Type: round stone belt mill
Function: flour mill
Setup: 1 pair of millstones
The mill was built in 1867 on behalf of the Van de Reijt family and remained in their possession until 1939.
In that year, G.J. Hermus became the owner.
In the autumn of 1944, the mill was damaged due to combat operations.
At that time, shortened iron Pot rods from another
mill were inserted. During the restoration carried out in 1970, the four
story flour mill was made operational again. Originally,
the mill had three grinding pairs, but now there is a
modern mechanical milling section on the ground floor with a continuous feed mechanism, a pair of 17-inch
artificial stones, an electric milling chair, and various electrical
equipment for mixing and transporting organic wheat,
maize, and barley.
In the mill yard, there is an entrance gate to the storage room.
The bottom of the body is black tarred to prevent moisture penetration.
With the tailstock at the bottom of the wooden tail, the English
tail mechanism is set in motion. The brake stick at the rear, where
there is also a green rear supporting structure with a white trim, is used to
operate the Flemish block brake around the crown wheel. The green
fringed beard with white trim at the front states:
1867 HOPE GIVES LIFE 1990. In this last year, a new
stone floor, bearing beam of the king post, stone disc, grinding pair, and
brake were installed. Additionally, two new 24.25 m long Derckx rods
with sail wings and brake flaps on the inner rod and Old Dutch fencing
on the outer rod were placed. However, the wind catch from the southern direction is
considerably obstructed by the nearby church tower.
