Nieuwvliet originated in the 16th century. The Dutch Reformed Church on Dorpsstraat is a gem of a brick aisle church from the 17th century, with a square bell tower. It has been beautifully restored after significant war damage. Nieuwvliet-Bad has a spacious and wide beach. The locals here call their village Sinte Pier. This name comes from the past. The first parish here was established from the St. Peter's Abbey in Ghent. Next to it, during the Eighty Years' War, the Spaniards built the St. Peter's Schoon near Nieuwvliet. After about 500 meters, we turn into the second street on the left, Dorpsstraat. At the intersection, we then cycle right onto the St. Bavodijk up to the roundabout. We take the roundabout for the church and carefully cross the Provincial road. We end up on Ter Moere and turn right. At the next road split, we turn left briefly and then immediately turn right. Quite quickly, we arrive at a T-junction where we turn left. The road is still called Ter Moere. At the T-junction, we turn left and at the end of Ter Moere, we briefly turn left and then immediately turn right: Antwerpen Polderweg. At the end of this, we reach another T-junction. We turn left and arrive at Molenweg,
which we drive all the way down. This takes us to the village center of Zuidzande. If you turn right at the church and cycle 300 m straight ahead, you will reach Atelier de Test, which is worth a pleasant stop. Here you will find an exhibition of a large number of potters and artisan artists from the Netherlands and Belgium in a 200-year-old barn. Clay corner for children, during July and August, they can also try their hand at pottery on weekdays. You can also enjoy a snack or drink
on the cozy indoor and outdoor terrace.
