The Old Helen Church or Old Saint Helen Church is a late Gothic pseudobasilica with a late Romanesque tower in the Gelderland Aalten in the Netherlands. When Charlemagne subdued the Saxon tribes, he ordered that every community must provide a central farm for the establishment of a church. The first church was probably established on the grounds of the later manor de Ahof. The parish of Aladon or Alethnin that emerged then is first mentioned in 1152. The Reformed church of Aalten, which belonged to the diocese of Münster before the Reformation, was originally dedicated to Saint Helena. Helena was the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, who converted to Christianity.
