Public Transport & Toy Museum

The Public Transport & Toys Museum in the city of Doesburg in the province of Gelderland contains a collection in the field of train, tram and bus transport and toys. The collection consists of scale models of trains, trams and buses and objects related to public transport. These include conductors' uniforms, tickets and other utensils from the world of public transport. In addition, there is a museum archive that contains many books, drawings, photographic and other documentation about the origins. Part of the permanent exhibition focuses strongly on transport in Gelderland, where the former Geldersche Tramweg-Maatschappij was a well-known image in town and country. In addition to the focus on public transport in Gelderland, a picture is also given of public transport elsewhere in the Netherlands and abroad. Since the museum once started in The Hague, there is also a lot of material from HTM and NZH on display. The history is enlivened with the help of photographs, moving images and moving tram and train models. In addition to an LGB layout, there are also model railways with a different scale. Part of the museum is set up for educational purposes. Teaching materials are available for children. History and technology come together in this part. Since the end of 2016, the museum has also housed the original inventory of a toy shop from 1900 and there are annual exhibitions by other toy collectors.
