The Achterhoek Planetarium is located in the Dutch village of Toldijk and has been built since 1972, as a hobby, by Henk Olthof, contractor, carpenter, and mason.
Everything has been built by Olthof himself, he called it a hobby that got out of hand. The replica of the Eisinga Planetarium was built by Olthof with information from Henk Nieuwenhuis, who was the curator of the Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker at the time.
Olthof passed away on June 26, 2010.
