The Wiersse

(300 ha) 6.5 km east of Vorden, on the road to Ruurlo. Entrance to the N319 at kilometer post 16.7. The 16 ha large gardens and the 35 ha landscape park combine the symmetry of the 18th century with the romance of the 19th century. The garden and estate have always been managed by the family. The early 18th-century house, inhabited by the family and mentioned for the first time in 1288, is not open for interior visits, but it can be seen from a short distance during open days. Gardens open from April 9 to September 17, 2009, Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., expert guided tour € 7.50 per person (except May 21, open day). Departure from Wiersserallee. Gardens also accessible from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 16 and 17, May 21 (Ascension Day), July 19, 26, and 27, and October 25. Admission € 6.50. Children up to 9 years free. Free parking. During open days, plants are for sale, and light meals are served. Dogs are not allowed, even on a leash.
