The Natuurmuseum Fryslân is a natural history museum in the city of Leeuwarden in the Dutch province of Friesland.
The Natuurmuseum Fryslân was established in 1923 from a private initiative. The main initiator at that time was Gerrit 'Fûgeltsje' Bosch. In the early years of its existence, the museum did not have a permanent location. After World War II, it found shelter in Heerestraat in Leeuwarden, where it remained until 1987. In that year, the museum was housed in the former orphanage. The building had been used as a daycare center after the orphanage closed but was largely destroyed by a major fire in 1984.
