't Roode Koper is an estate with a country house in the forests of Veluwe, in the Dutch Leuvenum, founded in 1912 as a holiday residence by the diplomat and later governor-general of Dutch India, Johan Paul van Limburg Stirum. In 1911, a forest of approximately 700 ha was purchased by the Association for the Preservation of Nature Monuments; however, Van Limburg Stirum, as a co-heir of this estate, retained 67 ha for the construction of this country house in English style. In 1926, this estate with the house was ultimately sold by Van Limburg Stirum to Natuurmonumenten and was inhabited by the couple IJsselvliedt. In 1947, the Van der Werf family purchased the buildings and designated 't Roode Koper as a hotel; Van Limburg Stirum and his wife still stayed at the hotel.
