The conflict between Willem Holleeder and Kees Houtman, who was shot dead in front of his house in Amsterdam-West in November 2005, revolved according to justice around a property on Scheldestraat, a few doors down from the famous sandwich shop of Sal Meijer. Here, Holleeder began his weekly tour of the real estate managed by Endstra for Sam Klepper and John Mieremet. After Endstra's death, Houtman wanted to buy a small property from Mieremet's portfolio, but that was met with a veto from Holleeder, who quickly fell out with Mieremet after the murder of Klepper at the end of 2000. Holleeder wanted Houtman to work with him, but Houtman refused. This led to extortion by members of the scooter gang.
