The Sieraad is a crown jewel of Amsterdam School architecture. It rises like a bastion from the Kostverlorenvaart. It was designed by Arend Jan Westerman, the same architect who also conceived the yellow staircase lanterns in Witte de Withstraat.
Originally, this was a trade school, an inspiring environment for the students. The building has a trapezoidal shape. We are looking at the round back: what beautiful window sections, all the way up to the attic. The front is obscured by a group of trees, but if you pause for a moment, you can see the symmetry in the narrow semicircular facade.
