Strijbeek is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. On January 1, 2021, the village had a population of 345 people. Strijbeek used to belong to the municipality of Ginneken and Bavel and from 1942 to 1996 to the municipality Nieuw-Ginneken.De name Strijbeek could come from Strijdbeek, or a stream that was fought for. Strijbeek was located on the border of the Barony of Breda and the Land of Hoogstraten. So the battle could be about a border conflict, but also about water mills, the maintenance of the stream, and so on. It is remarkable that the stream, to which Strijbeek owes its name, is nowadays known as Strijbeekse Beek. It now forms the border river between the Netherlands and Belgium.
