Did you know that disaster tourism to the town of Borculo caused traffic jams in the Netherlands for the first time ever. On August 10, 1925, the Gelderland Borculo area was hit by a cyclone. Four people were killed and eighty wounded. The cyclone went through a larger area but Borculo was the worst of all. This disaster is often called the storm disaster of Borculo. There is now a museum that pays attention to this episode in the history of the town. Just after the disaster, bus trips were organized to visit the village: disaster tourism in its purest form.
