Brand Brewery is a Dutch brewery located in Wijlre in the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem. According to owner Heineken, Brand is 'possibly' the oldest brewery in the Netherlands. Beer has reportedly been brewed in the lordship of Wijlre since 1340. However, it is certain that a brewery existed at the same location where beer is currently brewed in Wijlre as early as 1755. The claim that Brand may be the oldest brewery in the Netherlands is therefore rather dubious. Bavaria is likely now the oldest brewery in the Netherlands, as it has verifiably been located at the same site in Lieshout since 1680.
