Kröller-Müller Museum

The Kröller-Müller Museum is a museum for Modern art, located in the National Park De Hoge Veluwe in Otterlo, Gelderland.
It is named after Helene Kröller-Müller. The Kröllers were very affluent and belonged to the richest and most powerful Dutch people. They bought 6,800 hectares of forest, heath, and sand in the Veluwe for hunting. The Netherlands' most famous architect Berlage built their hunting lodge Sint Hubertus there. Helene Kröller-Müller amassed hundreds of masterpieces from world-renowned artists. She adores Vincent van Gogh. Her dream is to build a museum in the park, and after years, this dream becomes a reality. The museum now has a significant collection, primarily of Vincent van Gogh, but also works by Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Bart van der Leck, and Piet Mondrian.

The museum was designed by Henry van de Velde. It opened in 1938 and was expanded in 1961 by the then director Bram Hammacher with a sculpture garden. The museum's sculpture garden is one of the largest in Europe and contains works by, among others, Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Richard Serra, and Claes Oldenburg.
