Oosterbeek

Station Oosterbeek is a railway station on the Rhijnspoorweg, located between the stations of Wolfheze and Arnhem. Initially, the station was named "Oosterbeek Hoog" to distinguish it from the station "Oosterbeek Laag." Originally, it was situated, like many other stations along the Rhijnspoorweg, at a considerable distance from the village. Following the construction of the railway line, the nearby hamlet of Drijen developed rapidly.

The original station was merely a temporary structure. In 1878, a permanent building was erected, followed around 1900 by a nearly identical building on the other side of the track. Initially, trains coming from Arnhem required a bank locomotive to manage the relatively steep incline. Therefore, there was a switch between the two station buildings to allow the bank locomotive to return to Arnhem. The station building was lost in 1944 due to wartime actions. Immediately after the liberation, the station was rebuilt. After the NS no longer staffed the station in 1970, the buildings were demolished in 1972.
