The calibration base of the Dutch National Triangular Network is located on the Zilvensche heide. The calibration base is a route of about 600 meters long, the end points of which are precisely marked on heavy concrete foundations. The soil of the Zilvensche heide is the most stable in the Netherlands and it is far removed from geological faults, so that the distance cannot change due to subsidence and landslides.
