The forest area in Twente is located between De Lutte and Denekamp and is landscaped by the jagged stream valley of the river Dinkel, which has retained its naturally meandering course to this day. The Dinkel river valley is included as Dinkelland in the Habitats Directive. The Lutterzand is considered a provincial geologic monument, because you can see the profile of the earth layers of the last 15,000 years. The 10,000-year limit is clearly visible. In the case of the 'green tail', the development of a winding sword is visible in an inner bend of the Dinkel. The bank of the outer bend is formed by a steep wall of several meters high.
