This estate was established in the 15th or 16th century. The Beeckestijn family had a fortified mansion there.
In 1716, Jan Trip bought the young house. The current estate was mostly laid out by him between 1716 and 1721. The gardens are characterized by winding paths, flowering shrubs, water features, meadows, and romantic structures. This is likely the first English garden in the Netherlands.
The house is currently owned by the Hendrick de Keyser Association. The gardens, park, and coach houses are owned by the Nature Monuments Association.
