The gate is located at the northern end of the Sebastiaansdoelen, a street situated parallel to the Doelengracht, at the intersection with the Groenhazengracht. The gate provides access to the site where the building complex of the Doelenkazerne was located from 1818 to 1980. Here, residential units and buildings of the Faculty of Humanities of the university were built afterwards.
