The statue of Piet Hein is a memorial from 1870 for the seafarer Piet Hein in the district of Delfshaven in the Dutch municipality of Rotterdam. The seafarer Piet Hein was born in 1577 in Delfshaven. He was a commander of the Dutch West India Company and rose to the rank of lieutenant admiral of Holland and West Friesland. In 1828, it was celebrated that Hein had captured the Spanish treasure fleet two hundred years earlier. However, plans to erect a monument for him in celebration of the festivities came to nothing.
