Winterswijk (Low Saxon: Wenters or Wenterswiek) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. On 1 April 2011, 29,014 people lived in the municipality (source: CBS). On 1 January 2009, 23,650 of them lived in the town of Winterswijk, but including the hamlets, the number of inhabitants is 29,016. The total area of the municipality of Winterswijk is 138.29 km², of which 0.52 km² is water. The population of the municipality has been more or less constant for years.
