Noordeinder Vermaning

In 1874, the Noordeinder Vermaning replaced a wooden church that was located across the street. The complex consists of the church itself, the adjacent sexton's house that was built in 1881 and a well behind the church.

The vicar lived in the house at number 16, dating from 1862, which served as a rectory.

The church is built in an austere, somewhat eclectic style. The interior is hardly ornamented, but that fits in well with the Mennonite tradition. The ratio of the space and the location of the windows is very successful. Connoisseurs praise the sound and acoustics of the room.

Until the 1950s, there was a lively church community. Here, too, secularization has taken its toll and the last church service by Reverend P. Smits took place in 1981.

With the restoration of the Noordeinder Vermaning, the ownership of the church was transferred from the Mennonite congregation to a foundation.

The Noordeinder Vermaning Foundation naturally aims to preserve and manage the church. To achieve this, all kinds of cultural activities are organized in the church.
