Lekkerkerk is an elongated dike village that is strongly oriented towards the river. On the site of the now Dutch Reformed church (originally Low German Reformed) the ribbon buildings have been compacted and bowl formation has occurred.
The Krimpenerwaard, in which Lekkerkerk is located, is divided into several polders. At Lekkerkerk these are the Polder Schuwagt in the west and the Polder Den Hoek in the east. Lekkerkerk is located on the Lek.
