Fort at Aalsmeer (QR Stelling route)

On and in the Fort at Aalsmeer – popularly known as Fort Rijsenhout – is the CRASH Air War and Resistance Museum, Zazen Yoga and Fort Farm Dijkzicht van BoerBos.

The CRASH Air War and Resistance Museum pays attention to crashed planes and their crews, to people in hiding in the Haarlemmermeer, and a permanent exhibition is dedicated to the Dutch agents who worked for the Special Assignments Bureau during the Second World War.

The former Genieloods is home to Fort Farm Dijkzicht with a herd of rare Schoonebeekers who take care of the nature management of 15 hectares of pasture on and around the Fort and the adjacent Geniedijk. The farm also supplies meat from the herd to local restaurants and private individuals. At the fort farm, BoerBos offers inspiration meetings for companies and organisations about 'natural leadership, better cooperation and herd behaviour'.

In addition, there is Zazen Yoga (yoga classes, meditation, breath therapy and ayurvedic massage).

The municipality of Haarlemmermeer wants to further develop the fort so that it becomes attractive for recreation, tourism and culture.

History
Fort bij Aalsmeer has two free-standing buildings for a lifting turret gun and a front building that is connected to the main building by a poterne . During the mobilization of the First World War, the fort was manned by about 280 men. Also unique is the double lock that was used as an inlet for water, and as a transit port for shipping.
