Fort on the Drecht (QR Defense route)

A small and modest fort

This fort is smaller than most other forts of the Amsterdam Defense Line. It was built later than most other forts and is simpler in design.

In September 1912, there was a large military exercise around the forts in this area.

Afterwards, the NRC-Handelsblad wrote: 'Finally, a word of great appreciation for the Stelling commander, Major General Fabius, who, despite the very painful consequences of the downpour last Friday, remained in command.
We did hear some complaints about insufficient bread and inadequate food, it is true, but one must not forget that the supply service had a very difficult task, considering three factors: speed, frugality, and good quality.'

If you dare, you can cycle another small kilometer along the Drecht Canal (the canal you came along), otherwise, you can cycle back to Uithoorn to continue your route from there.
