The Fort Waver-Amstel is located near Nessersluis in the Groot-Mijdrecht polder where the Oude Waver and the Amstel converge. It lies a few kilometers northeast of Uithoorn and is part of the Amsterdam Defense Line.
The fort of model B was built between 1886 and 1911. Work on the earthworks began in 1886 and was made defensible in 1895. The bomb-proof buildings were completed in 1911. According to the military command structure at the time, the fort belonged to the Ouderkerk sector, group De Nes, section Waver-Amstel.
