Castle Biljoen is one of the older castles in the Netherlands. The first mention dates back to 1076. A deed mentions a donation of the house (not yet a castle) by Henry IV to the chapter of St. Peter in Utrecht. In 1530, the new Broekerhof was built using materials from the destroyed castle Overhagen, which was located south of Biljoen. From this point on, Broekerhof is called Biljoen. Anna Palowna lived here from 1849 to 1850.
Recently, this castle was purchased by the Foundations Gelderland Castles and Gelderland Landscape.
