Plateau of Ubachsberg

The Plateau of Ubachsberg is a plateau in the Heuvelland region of Dutch South Limburg that was formed by the erosion of surrounding rivers and brooks. The area is a gently rolling low plain that gradually slopes downward towards the west. It extends from Kunderberg and Putberg in the north, Elkenrade and the Eyserbos in the southwest, and Froweinbos, Bosschenhuizen, and Huls in the southeast. On the plateau are also the places Ubachsberg, Colmont, Eyserheide, and Trintelen/Mingersberg. The church village of Ubachsberg is situated on the plateau. To reach the village, one must go uphill from all directions. The Plateau of Ubachsberg is intersected by the Dry Valley of Colmont. This dry valley begins just south of the village of Ubachsberg, between the village and the hamlet of Mingersberg/Trintelen, and slopes downwards to the west. On the gently sloping side of the valley wall, Kunrader Limestone comes to the surface.
