De Rees is a country house and former havezate located in the municipality of Brummen, between Brummen and Leuvenheim, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The oldest written mention dates back to 1642 as a Gelderland fief, although the estate must be much older. The house that stands there today was built in 1833, and around this time its predecessor must have been demolished. This predecessor was, according to prints, a defensible havezate equipped with a moat and drawbridge. The country house was in use from 1943 to 1970 by the Central Bureau Third Order. The Order was part of the Franciscan friars. According to the church law, it was a secular institution. Members took private vows that were only valid for one year and then had to be renewed. After that, it was used by the Philadelphia Foundation for the care of the disabled. When they left, it was used by a residential community. Since 1989, it has been Foijer de Charite klein Sion as a Roman Catholic retreat center, and since 2005 by the Congregation of Saint John.
