The Slingeplas is a former sand extraction site, now a recreational lake to the east of Bredevoort. The water surface area is approximately 19 ha.
The Slingeplas was created during the land consolidation of Aalten in the late eighties and expanded in the nineties. It is separated from the Slinge by a dike and is also used as a floodplain during high water. The recreational area has a total area of 34 hectares. It is also part of the National Landscape Winterswijk, declared by the Dutch government in 2005, an area totaling almost 22,000 hectares.
