Monastery Wittem

Warm welcome to Pilgrim Place Monastery Wittem, a vibrant and hospitable spot for rest and reflection in the Limburg Hill Country.
Monastery Wittem is open every day. You can light a candle, visit the monastery bookstore, or simply browse around. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the coffee corner, where there is often a host or hostess present. The door to the monastery garden is always open as well.
The monastery is inhabited by a community of Redemptorist fathers and a few associates. More than a hundred volunteers and several paid employees work here.
Wittem has been a pilgrimage site for Saint Gerard and for Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, for decades. Many people find comfort in the presence of their images. The 300-year-old baroque monastery church also invites tranquility.
Monastery BookstoreThe bookstore has an extensive collection of books on faith, spirituality, and meaning in life. There is also an assortment of books on pilgrimage, hiking, and Limburg. In one corner of the store, there is a fair trade shop, and various monastery products are for sale, such as the Gerardus tear-off calendar.
The monastery - with a large parking lot in front - is a great base for walking or cycling trips through the Hill Country. In the immediate vicinity, you will find cozy cafés, welcoming hotels, and good restaurants.
