Zernike complex

The Zernike complex, also known as Zernike Campus Groningen, is an area in the northern part of the city of Groningen that is part of the Paddepoel neighborhood. It is named after scientist Frits Zernike, who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1953. The area features a concentration of buildings from the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, as well as branches of other institutions and companies, such as Google. A part of the land near the Reitdiep used to be home to the hamlet of Blauwborgje.
